In January 2018, I created a design submission for Hoodwinked. The task was to show an aspect of Nottingham by painting a design onto a Robin Sculpture which would be sponsored by a Local business and part of a Public Art Trail. It would then be auctioned off for charity.
I created my design from the starting point found almost a year previously. We love antiques, and found a plaque with a crest on in an antiques shop in Ashbourne. When we researched it later, we found it was the crest for Nottingham university.
So, when I saw the call for submissions I decided to interpret this crest onto the Robin. I dissected the elements of the crest and applied them into the design. Months later, I found out my design had been shortlisted and later still, that my design had been chosen by a sponsor!
My sponsor was Intu Broadmarsah, which was where I then painted my Robin in May.
